Asbestos/Lead Technician, Assistant Project Manager, Lab Analyst (Long Island City, NY)

The Firm currently has openings for qualified Asbestos/Lead Technician, Assistant Project Manager, and Laboratory Analyst.

ASBESTOS/LEAD TECHNICIAN

Job Summary
Depending on the qualifications and licenses possessed, the Asbestos/Lead Technician performs testing and sampling of suspect materials, (i.e. asbestos, lead, PCB, etc.) for and laboratory analysis.
- Asbestos Inspectors/Investigators will perform visual inspections, collect samples for laboratory analysis, interpret architectural drawings, and provide ACP5 forms.
- Asbestos Project Monitors will monitor asbestos abatement work to ensure compliance with the law and collect air samples for laboratory analysis.
- Lead Inspectors/Risk Assessors conduct lead XRF testing and collect clearance dust wipes, paint chips, and water samples for laboratory analysi.

Job Qualifications
- Preference is given to candidates who possess at least one of the following licenses/certifications: Asbestos Project Designers, Asbestos Project Monitors, Asbestos Inspectors, and Lead Inspectors/Risk Assessors.
- Applicants must be knowledgeable of the applicable regulations, industry protocols, and proper use of applicable equipment and PPE.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work with little supervision, and experience interacting with clients, contractors, and regulators.
- Effective communication skills required.
- Must be willing to travel.


ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

Job Summary
The Assistant Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and implementing tasks involved in various environmental projects. The position provides support to Project Managers in operations activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in field work to gather data in support of environmental projects.
- Coordinate field technicians to ensure project completion.
- Monitor project deliverables and timelines, and notify the Project Manager when issues arise, and take corrective actions, as needed.
- Collaborate with external vendors to implement laboratory analysis, testing, or sampling.
- Organize and facilitate project-related meetings.
- Communicate project findings and activities to clients, colleagues, and other parties involved.
- Develop reports and other deliverables as assigned by the Project Manager.
- Assist the Project Manager in tracking budget expenses. May assist with budget analysis.
- Maintain communications with internal colleagues and external customers as necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
- BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Geology.
- Preference is given to candidates with experience in environmental health and safety and industrial hygiene services such as indoor air quality investigation.
- Solid written and oral communication skills.
- Solid organizational, and team building skills.
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and under tight schedules.
- Computer proficiency, including MS Office software (Powerpoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to use all basic office equipment.
- Project management skills preferred.


LABORATORY ANALYST

Job Summary
The Laboratory Analyst operates laboratory equipment and conducts asbestos laboratory analysis. The Analyst also manages laboratory data, keeps track of field samples submitted to the laboratory, interprets chains of custody information and laboratory results, coordinates the preparation of laboratory reports, and interacts with clients who inquire about sample results.

Job Qualifications
- Ideal candidates possess at least a degree in Geology, Biology, or Chemistry.
- Preference is given to candidates who have laboratory experience, specifically with Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with little supervision.
- Effective communication skills required.
- Must be willing to work extended hours when necessary.
