Taylor Swift tops list of most charitable celebrities of 2012

Taylor Swift was cited on the DoSomething.com  list young cancer victims and her generous donation to the Country Hall of Fame Museum.

Taylor Swift was cited by DoSomething.com for her passion for helping young cancer victims.

Taylor Swift has had her share of pop hits, but she also is No. 1 on another chart â€" the giving chart.

Swift, 23, was the most charitable celebrity in 2012, according to the website DoSomething.org.

The pop star, who tops the Billboard charts with her latest album "Red," works tirelessly to help young cancer victims, DoSomething.org notes. Swift also donated $ 4 million to the Country Hall of Fame Museum and became the youngest person to nab the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center.

The Ripple of Hope Award typically honors leaders in the community who "demonstrate commitment to social change," according to its website.

Fellow pop star Miley Cyrus followed Swift on the "Celebs Gone Good" list for her work with multiple charities. Movie star Channing Tatum, and singers Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber round out the top five.

Bieber's on-and-off girlfriend Selena Gomez is No. 9 on the list. Other notables on DoSomething's list:

â€" "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts, who is battling myelodysplastic syndrome, was ranked No. 6 for her work spreading awareness about the importance of bone marrow donation.

â€" NBA superstar LeBron James, No. 8 on the list, was recognized for his work with underprivileged kids in his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

â€" “Star Trek” star George Takei beamed in at No. 12 for his campaign for marriage equality.

â€" Ben Affleck may not be running for the Senate, but his humanitarian work puts him No. 13 on the list.
