Jennifer Lawrence shows off her comedic timing when David Letterman produced a bikini photo of the actress on Thursday night's 'Late Show'

Jennifer Lawrence found a silver lining when an unflattering bikini photo of her was trotted out on national television: comedy gold.

When “Late Show” host David Letterman produced the paparazzi shot from the 22-year-old actress' November trip to Hawaii, Lawrence had an answer ready.

“It's not my butt and I will not take responsibility for it," she said on Tuesday night's show, eliciting laughter from the studio audience. "It's a 90-year-old butt that's been photoshopped onto my body, and is posing as my butt.”

The "Silver Linings Playbook" star also took the opportunity to clarify the uproar over her acceptance speech at last Sunday's Golden Globes, during which she looked at the statuette and said, "It reads, 'I beat Meryl Streep.'"

Only she was actually referencing a line from the 1996 film, “The First Wive’s Club.”

“I had no idea Lindsay Lohan would take to the Twitterverse,” Lawrence told Letterman."Twitter is very upset.”

“I was like, is that what this turned into? I don’t like Meryl Streep? As if I’ve had my eyes on getting that girl forever and I was like, "Finally! I knew it would happen one day.”

“I wanted to make a public statement, like, "Hey idiots, it’s a quote from a movie!”'
