Editorial Peer Review Associate with Strong IT Skills

Westchester based publisher of 70 premier medical and scientific journals seeks a full-time associate to help manage the online peer review system. This individual will work directly with the senior administrator to quickly and effectively support all users of the online manuscript submission and review system, including authors, reviewers, editors and editorial office staff. This is an administrative, database management position for a very detail-oriented and well-organized individual with editorial flair. Applicant must be comfortable managing both the routine and the unexpected.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Respond to calls and email from all users of the peer review system in a timely manner.
Support over 70 off site editorial offices.
Assist with configuring and maintaining multiple journal web sites on line, including updating information, making modifications.
Assist with advancing to production accepted manuscripts in the system.
Run reports for journal statistics and over site of editorial offices' efficiency.
Train new users on peer review system when necessary.
Miscellaneous journal-related projects, as necessary.


Skills:
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to interact successfully with all levels of personnel.
Excellent organization and the flexibility to multi-task.
Ability to act independently.
Solid computer skills in MS Word. Basic Excel skills. Experience working with any peer review system is preferred, but not essential.

Education:
College degree is desirable, but not essential.
Manuscript Central University certification is a plus, but not required

Experience:
A strong background in customer service and database management is required. Support for senior level individuals is preferred, as is a history of technical support services. Experience working with any online peer review system is desirable, but not required.
